Overage vs. overfill — what’s the difference?

Two rules commonly affect dumpster pricing after delivery:

1. Overage — You exceed the included weight for your size. Haulers charge a per‑ton fee for the extra disposal weight. Typical public‑range: $75–$125 per ton.
2. Overfill — Your dumpster is loaded above the “fill line” or the top edge. Crews may refuse pickup or require you to offload materials, and additional fees can apply.

Tip: Heavier materials (e.g., roofing, concrete, dirt) hit weight limits quickly. Ask your hauler for included tonnage and per‑ton overage before delivery, and keep loads level and safely below the rim.
